sweeps; JV goes 1-0-1

MOULTRIE – The C.A. Gray Black girls and boys soccer teams ran their records to 6-0 on Wednesday with a home sweep of Valdosta.
And on Thursday, at a much colder Packer Park, the Colquitt County junior varsity boys defeated Thomas County Central 5-1 and the girls rallied from a 2-0 deficit to forge a 2-2 tie.
The Black team’s girls won 8-0 for the third-straight game and now have outscored their six opponents by a combined 45-0.
Emily Garcia had three goals for the hat trick for coach Jessica Anaya’s Lady Packers.
Maya Meza and Marleigh Hurst each had two goals and Mia Cedillo had one.
The boys team scored four times in the first half and went on to a 6-1 win over the Wildcats.
Daniel Perez got the Packers first goal, connecting with 23:33 left in the first half, with Ivan Pimentel assisting.
Brady Dekle scored five minutes later with Israel Hernandez assisting on a corner kick.
It took only three minutes for the Packers to score their third goal with Ricardo Bautista putting one in the back of the net on a deflection from another corner kick.
Perez got his second goal with 13:32 remaining in the half. Dekle got the assist on a corner kick.
Hernandez got Colquitt County’s first second-half goal, scoring with 16:37 left in the match.

The Black teams will play next when they travel to meet Tift County on Wednesday, February 26.
On Thursday, the Colquitt County junior varsity girls were down 1-0 at the half and 2-0 early in the second half against Thomas County Central.
But with 14 minutes left, there was a foul in the box and Kamila Del Angel converted the penalty kick to pull the Lady Packers to within one.
Then, 90 seconds later, the Lady Packers got the ball to forward Emily Portillo, who laid it off to Kinlee Luna who scored to tie the game with 13 minutes left.
“We had several shots from Dru McLeod, Kinlee Luna and Melissa Nunez, but got unlucky,” coach Deliza Gachuz said. “Our defense was held down by Alexia Luna, who played center back, and our keeper Genesis Martinez.”
The junior varsity boys dominated the Yellow Jackets.
“We had another night of spreading the goals around,” said coach Andy Chapura.
Yonathan Villeda scored the first goal and Victor Morales got the second as the Packers went to halftime up 2-1.
Carlos Valencia-Garcia put the Packers up 3-1.
Aiden Nunez converted a penalty kick to make it 4-1 and Eddy Gloria Jimenez got a goal to close out the scoring.
Both Colquitt County junior varsity teams are 2-0-1.
They will be back at Packer Park on Thursday, February 27, to play host to Lowndes.
