Summerlin and Hamm qualify
for state fishing tournament

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County bass fishing team of Hayden Hamm and John Davis Summerlin has qualified for the GHSA state tournament.
The two Packers caught the five-fish limit weighing 11 pounds and 13 ounces to finish 12th on Saturday at the state qualifier at Lake Oconee.
The event drew 261 boats with the Coffee High duo of Hoyt English and Jake Grantham placing first with five fish weighing 17 pounds and 10 ounces.
The state finals will be held Saturday, May 3, at Lake Lanier in Gainesville.
After the original season-opener at Lake Seminole was canceled because of cold weather, Saturday’s event at Lake Oconee became first qualifier.
The next qualifier will be held March 8, at Clarks Hill, site of last year’s state tournament.
Teams also can attempt to qualify on April 5 at West Point Lake in LaGrange.
All six Colquitt County teams caught fish on Saturday.
Canyon Cook and Braden Venet finished 53rd with fish weighing 8 pounds, 13 ounces.
The team of Carl Brown Jr. and C.J. Bryant was 140th with two fish weighing 3 pounds, 12 ounces.
Hayden Glass and Andrew Stanford had two fish weighing 3 pounds, 8 ounces.
Brayden Bell and Walker Story had one fish weighing 2 pounds, nine ounces
Banks Flowers and Harrison Lampman had one fish weighing 1 pound, 14 ounces.
