Hart, Tuck Gregory win state high school diving titles

MOULTRIE – Tuck Gregory won his second straight boys GHSA state 1-meter diving championship and Jewell Hart took the girls title to give Colquitt County a sweep on Tuesday in Atlanta.
The state championships were the 55th and 56th won by Moultrie/Colquitt County High divers.
Colquitt boys have won six straight titles and eight of the last 11.
The Packers took four of the top five places in the boys championships, held at the McAuley Aquatic Center at Georgia Tech.
Tuck’s brother Trip was the state runner-up, while Logan Griffin was fourth and Judson Taylor was fifth.
Tuck, a senior, scored a 757.55 and bested his 2024 score of 738.50.
He also finished second in 2023 and was third in 2022 as a freshman.
Trip, also a senior, finished third last year behind Tuck and former Packer Bo Bridges, who is now diving at the University of Georgia.
Trip scored 669.55 on Tuesday.
Griffin, a freshman, turned in a 481.45 and Taylor, a sophomore, had a 473.25.
After representing Colquitt County at the state diving meet, Taylor will join the Packers varsity baseball team.
Former Packer and 2024 Olympian Carson Tyler holds the state boys record with the 878.95 he scored in 2021.
The Lady Packers also had three divers in the top four on Tuesday.
Hart, a junior who finished fifth last year, scored a 613.45 for her first state championship.
Mill Creek’s Leah McCarthy was second with 607.85.
But Colquitt County sophomore Kendall Deloach was third with a 602.45 and junior Elizabeth Ann Hobby was fourth with a 581.25.
Junior Maggie Strange was sixth with a 549.90.
