Power Wheels Derby Race
to be held in February

MOULTRIE – The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority is having a Power Wheels Derby Race. This event combines racing with kids showcasing their favorite battery-operated ride-on vehicles.

Check in will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, with races beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m.

This event is open to children in two age categories: aged 2-4 and 5-7. Drivers are encouraged to decorate their vehicle for the event.

Each age group will be divided into heats where they will race the length of 11th Avenue beside Tommy Meredith Gym. The winner of each heat will race for the win. The number of heats will be determined by registration for each age level.

Each participant will take a driver’s test where they will navigate twists, turns, and obstacles to test control and skill to be awarded a driver’s license and car number to display on the vehicle.

Participants are required to wear a helmet and closed toe shoes or boots. No flip flops, sandals or open toe shoes allowed. Any battery-operated ride-on vehicles like trucks, ATVs, or motorcycles are allowed. Only 12-volt batteries designed for Power Wheels vehicles are allowed.

Traction devices or studs are not allowed on tires. No bumpers, weights or anything to reinforce the vehicle is allowed.

The entry fee is $10 per driver and the deadline to register is January 31. Drivers must have turned two by February 1, 2025.Family and friends are welcome to come to cheer on the young racers.
