January brings new year with new community activities

MOULTRIE – Start-off the New Year with new activities in January. There’s a variety of things to keep both adults and kids busy all month long.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library will have “2024 Trivia: A Year in Review,” January 2 starting at 6 p.m.

Twelfth Night will be held January 5, on the courthouse square starting at 6 p.m. This is the annual “turning off” of the Canopy of Lights.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority is holding a “School’s Out Mini-Camp” January 6-7, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s for ages 5 to 12 and the cost is $20 per person.

The Arts Center of Moultrie will start its classes for the year on January 13. There are an array of visual arts, music, drama and dance classes for all ages. To register or for more information, visit the arts center’s website at www.moultriearts.org.

The Annual Martin Luther King Jr Birthday Celebration and Parade will be held January 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., in downtown Moultrie.

The Arts Center of Moultrie is holding auditions for the “Alice in Wonderland” musical January 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. It is for ages 5 to 18. For more information, visit the arts center’s website at www.moultriearts.org.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority is holding a “Cosmic Pickleball Tournament” January 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Tommy Meredith Gym. It is a round robin format that’s open to all skill levels. Each team will play three matches. Registration is open to the first 16 teams and the entry fee is $50 per team. Baseball, softball and T-ball registration is now open for the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority. Early registration fee is $40. The deadline to register is January 31.
