MOULTRIE — Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Colquitt County 2024/2025 cohort took part in a Social Services Day last week.
The United Way of Colquitt County, in partnership with the Moultrie Chamber, hosted the event. It was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of local social services while fostering leadership and community connection.
The day began with a “speed dating” session where participants met with representatives from 16 local nonprofits. This interactive activity allowed the cohort to learn about the diverse missions and essential services these organizations provide.
Then, in the afternoon, the group shifted gears to a hands-on service project. Participants wrapped Christmas gifts for clients of Hero House. Also, the Grinch, who seemed to bring a playful and festive energy, surprised the group with a visit.
Social Services Day has become a cornerstone of the Leadership Colquitt County program. It offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with the community in meaningful ways.
The session highlighted the importance of collaboration, service, and leadership in addressing local needs and creating positive change.
“This day is always a favorite among the class,” said representatives from the United Way of Colquitt County. “It’s inspiring to see emerging leaders gain a deeper connection to our community and a greater appreciation for the power of service.”
The United Way of Colquitt County representatives extend gratitude to the Moultrie Chamber for hosting this event and for its ongoing support of the Leadership Colquitt County program.
