TIFTON — South Georgia Banking Company is excited to announce the promotions of two esteemed officers, Mike Rice and Victor Pires, to critical leadership roles. 

With over 25 years of experience, Mike Rice steps into the role of chief retail lending officer, bringing deep expertise in consumer and small business lending. Rice has been instrumental in leading SGBC’s efforts to secure the Community Development Financial Institution designation, a recognition from the U.S. Treasury that enables SGBC to offer vital financial services and education to underserved areas.

As chief retail lending officer, Rice will focus on expanding SGBC’s lending services, developing financial solutions tailored to the community’s needs, and ensuring every customer receives personalized support.

Victor Pires assumes the role of chief operating officer, bringing more than 20 years of banking experience and a record of driving innovation. During his time as chief retail banking officer, Pires led transformative initiatives, including creating a treasury management department to enhance services for business clients and implementing operational improvements that elevated customer experiences.

In his new role, Pires will oversee SGBC’s deposit strategy, digital presence, operations, and special projects. His work will continue to focus on enhancing services and delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of customers and businesses in South Georgia.
