The Colquitt Christian Academy boys basketball team won its season-opener on December 10, defeating Lighthouse Christian School in Valdosta 37-32. Although the Cavaliers trailed after the first quarter, they took the lead in the second quarter. Under guidance of coach Seth Berl, the Cavaliers combination of weaving and pressing allowed them to extend the lead and control the game until the final buzzer. Seniors Nick Merdian and Ezra Walters led CCA in scoring with nine points each. Sophomore Brayden Bloodworth added eight; freshman Ryan Colls had five; junior Noah Harden contributed four; and sophomore Sam Ray chipped in two. The Cavaliers will play next on Thursday, December 19. Here coach Berl talks with players during a break in the action.
