MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County seventh-grade boys basketball team advanced to the conference semifinals on Monday by defeating Valdosta Middle School 60-43.
Kaden Span led the youngest Packers with 20 points.
Cade Calhoun had a sharp-shooting 16 points that included four 3-pointers.
Sixth-grader Cameron Williams scored 12. Robert Aldridge added six and Gavin Gliemmo, Za’Ryan Yates and Gabe Shepard each had two.
The seventh-graders will play their second-round game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Willie J. Williams Middle School gymnasium.
The eighth-grade boys lost in the first round to No. 1-seeded Coffee 60-15 to end their season.
They finished 2-11.
“This eighth-grade group experienced a season of growth, learning and developing character,” said coach Nigel Spencer.
