Colquitt middle schoolers place third in Coffee swim meet

MOULTRIE – Led by a pair of gold-medal individual finishes and a first-place relay performance, the Colquitt County middle school swim team finished third in Friday’s Coffee Middle Christmas Invitational.
The meet drew seven boys teams and eight girls teams.
Tift County took the overall championship and was first in both the girls and boys standings.
Colquitt had the runner-up boys team.
Also competing were teams from Coffee, Appling, Pierce, Thomas and Jeff Davis counties. The Crossroads girls team also took part.
Fletcher Kraut won the gold medal in the boys 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 2:48.79.
Jaden Howell earned Colquitt’s other gold medal when he finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 36.66.
The middle school Packers also won the boys 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:42.77.
The Colquitt boys received second-place finishes from Maddux Simmons in the 50-yard butterfly and from the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams.
The middle school Lady Packers got a second-place performance from their 400-yard freestyle teams.
Bringing home silver medals were Jax Hart, in the boys 100-yard freestyle; Daylen Peebles, boys 50-yard freestyle; Allie Mobley, in both the girls 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle; and the girls 200-yard medley relay team.
Also scoring points for the Colquitt County middle schoolers were Peebles, fourth, 50-yard backstroke; Simmons, fourth, 100-yard freestyle; Jason Valega, fourth, 50-yard butterfly; Maryalyce McCall, fourth, 50-yard backstroke; Veronika Brace, fifth, 50-yard butterfly; the girls 200-yard freestyle relay A team, fourth; and the girls 200-yard freestyle relay B team, sixth.
Also competing for the Colquitt middle school team were Rylan Smith, Cohin Land, Christie Conn, Reese Medders, Ca’Mycee Peterson, Adalyn Land, Emma Bailey, Maisie Ford, Evie Briones and Reese Clifton.
