Don’t miss these community events happening in December

MOULTRIE – December has numerous holiday activities and events to keep both kids and adults busy.

“Made in Americus 2024,” a Georgia Southwestern State University art department faculty show, will open at the Arts Center of Moultrie, October 30 and run through December 13. The center is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Students may join the Youth Holiday Choir at the Arts Center of Moultrie, which will be held Tuesdays, from 4 to 5 p.m., from November 5 to December 10. Then, the holiday concerts will be held December 13 and 14. The choir is for ages 8 to 18 and the cost is $40 per student.

A Christmas Tour of Homes with a History will be Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Moultrie Federation of Women’s Clubhouse Trustees, all proceeds will go for the renovation of the clubhouse. The tickets are $50 each and the refreshments are also included. This is a walking tour on Oak Lane.

The Ultimate Werewolf: Festive Edition will be December 5, at 5 p.m., at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. So, gather with other players to uncover the werewolves before they steal the Christmas spirit.

The Festival of Futures Gala, sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club, will be December 5, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Arts Center of Moultrie. This is a black tie event. For more information, call (229) 890-8600 or go to the club’s website.

The 48th Annual Santa Breakfast will be Saturday, December 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event, sponsored by the Moultrie Junior Woman’s Club, will be at R.B. Wright Elementary, 1812 Second Street SE.

An Artisan Market will be December 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Boys and Girls Club in Moultrie. There will also be food trucks, handmade items and other vendors.

The Santa Stroll ’n Roll will be December 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in downtown Moultrie, under the Canopy of Lights. Additionally, prizes to be given for the best holiday costumes and other holiday activities. Adult registration for the run is $15 and a child registration is $10.

The Brown Bag Book Club will meet December 10, at 11 a.m., at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. The club is open to all book lovers.

Build Your Own Snow Globe Craft Night is December 10, at 6 p.m., at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. All materials will be provided. To RSVP call the library at (229) 985-6540 or sign-up at the front desk.

The Festival of Lights Christmas Parade will be December 12, starting at 6 p.m., in downtown Moultrie. The theme this year is “A Vintage Christmas.”

Swim with the Grinch Saturday, December 14, starting at 9 a.m., the heated Southwest Memorial Pool. There will also be snacks, games and crafts and it’s $5 per participant. For more information, go to www.mccpra.com.

The Community Holiday Concert will be at the Arts Center of Moultrie Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. The event is free but donations are welcome.

A Sip and Paint Class will be December 17, at 6 p.m., at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. Both seasoned painters and beginners can take the class. A Christmas Service at Historical Greenfield Church will be Saturday, December 21, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 1001 Greenfield Church Road. The service will include local history and also a tour of the Plymel Family Log Cabin.

The Holiday Drive In: The Nightmare Before Christmas will be December 21, at 7 p.m., at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library. So, bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie under the stars or from the car.
