McBride, Barber, Pitts to represent Colquitt County at state all-star event

MOULTRIE – All-Region outfielder RaJayla McBride, head coach Taylor Barber and former head coach Chance Pitts all will represent the Colquitt County fast-pitch softball program at the Georgia Dugout Club’s All-State games on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Atlanta.
The games will be played at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
McBride is the Lady Packers exciting leadoff hitter, dangerous base-stealer and fly-catching outfielder who was named to the All-Region 1-6A first team.
A senior this season, she batted .419 and was successful in 43-of-45 stolen base attempts.
She has committed to play collegiately at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Miss.
Barber, in his first year as Colquitt County’s head coach, led the Lady Packers to a region championship, the program’s fourth in the last six years, earning region Coach of the Year honors.
He will be one the five coaches of the all-star team that will represent Region’s 1 and 5 in the All-State event.
Joining him on the team’s staff will be Colt Brockington of Wayne County, Tony Carlisle of Cherokee, Savannah Peppers of Wesleyan and Calem Ray of Berrien.
Pitts is one of the Georgia Dugout Club’s softball vice presidents.
He resigned as the Lady Packers fast-pitch head coach following the 2023 season after posting a 156-87 record and winning three region titles over eight years.
He has the most wins in Colquitt County fast-pitch softball history.
Pitts will be the head coach of the Colquitt County slow-pitch team that will begin play next spring.

Paran; Megan Coleman, Effingham County; and Abigail McKinns, Greater Atlanta Christian.
