Donald Trump wins Colquitt County

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County residents voted for former President Donald Trump for the next President of the United States, defeating Kamala Harris within the county.

Donald Trump received a total of 12,445 votes and Kamala Harris received a total of 4,110 votes.

There were a total of 16,674 ballots cast, in Tuesday’s election, out of the 25,872 registered voters, which gave Colquitt County an overall 64.45% turnout. So, this was an increase from the 14.45% turnout for the Presidential Primary in March.

In local elections, Sheriff Rod Howell defeated Democrat Ernest Jones 13,049 to 3,205 votes. All other local races were unopposed.

At the state and federal levels, Representative Chas Cannon and Senator Sam Watson, who were up for reelection in the Georgia General Assembly, ran unopposed and Austin Scott, who was up for reelection in the US House of Representatives, led Democrat Darrius Butler within the county 12,801 to 3,415 votes.

Also, on the ballot, there were two constitutional amendments and a statewide referendum question.

Additionally, Colquitt County residents supported an amendment to provide for a state-wide homestead exemption, an amendments for a state-wide tax court and a referendum to raise the amount of the tangible personal property tax exemption.
