November kicks-off holiday season for holiday activities

MOULTRIE – November kicks-off the holiday season with plenty of activities and events to keep both kids and adults busy.
“Bring a Ball,” sponsored by the Children’s Cheer and Toy Shop will be held Friday, November 1, at the Packers football game. Donate a ball of any kind at the gate and monetary donations will also be accepted.
“Made in Americus 2024,” a Georgia Southwestern State University art department faculty show, will open at the Arts Center of Moultrie, October 30 and run through December 13. The center is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A “Holiday Cookie Bake,” sponsored by the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority, will be held November 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Ryce Community Center. Spend the morning making holiday treats. It’s open to kindergarten through 5th grade and the cost is $5 per participant. For more information, visit www.mccpra.com.
Students may join the Youth Holiday Choir at the Arts Center of Moultrie, which will be held Tuesdays, from 5 to 6 p.m., from November 5 to December 10. The holiday concerts will be held December 13 and 15. The choir is for ages 8 to 18 and the cost is $40 per student.
NAMI of Moultrie is hosting the “Meeting of the Minds: Introducing Our New Psychiatry Residents,” Tuesday, November 5. There will be light refreshments at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will start at 5:45 p.m. Support groups will meet at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held in the First Methodist Church fellowship hall, on the corner of 5th Avenue SE and Second St. SE.
“Photos with Santa” and a mini Highland cow will be Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Whitney Smith State Farm office, 6 South Main Street, in Downtown Moultrie. The event is free.
Pictionary will be held at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library, Tuesday, November 12, at 6 p.m. The player with the most correct guesses wins a prize.
The Brown Bag Book Club meets at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library, Tuesday, November 12, at 11 a.m.
“Touch-A-Truck,” sponsored by the Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority, will be held November 16, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at the Goff Complex. “Quiet Time” is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for those with sensitive ears. This event is free.
Recipe Journaling will be held at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library, Tuesday, November 19, at 6 p.m. Participants can bring a favorite recipe and share the story of it with the group and start on a recipe journal/scrapbook.
The Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority is having its “Holiday Market” Saturday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Burt Harsh Park. Shop for one-of-a-kind home-made gifts. The weather back-up location will be the Tommy Meredith Gym.
“Art Fest” will be Saturday, November 23, at the Arts Center of Moultrie. It’s a celebration of the arts with hand-made local art, kids’ activities and food. Register for the half marathon, 5K, 10K or fun run by October 31 to guarantee a t-shirt. Medals will be awarded for all races. Bad Art Night will be held at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library Tuesday, November 26, at 6 p.m. This is an opportunity to show-off “bad art” skills and enjoy the process with the pressure of perfection. The worst art gets a crown.
