Notes column: Walker grabs two scoring passes in West Alabama win

MOULTRIE – Former Packer Tyler Walker had seven catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns in West Alabama’s 38-0 victory over Chowan last Saturday.
Walker had a 6-yard touchdown pass reception in the second quarter and 13-yard scoring catch in the third quarter.
For the season, Walker, a senior, has 28 pass receptions for 314 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers.
West Alabama, now 6-1, will play next on Saturday against North Greenville at home in Livingston.
Of this and that:
• The Colquitt County flag football team dropped three games in a tournament at Southeast Bulloch on Saturday.
The Lady Packers fell 27-0 to Oconee County, 19-6 to Southeast Bulloch and 14-6 to Dodge County.
Colquitt, now 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the area, will play on Tuesday, Oct. 29, against Baker County and Lowndes at Thomas County Central.
Jack Luttrell started at safety for Arizona on Saturday in the Wildcats 31-26 loss to West Virginia.
Luttrell was credited with three solo and eight assisted tackles and a forced fumble.
Now 3-5, the Wildcats will play next on Saturday at Central Florida.
Ty French had an assisted tackle in the game for 4-4 West Virginia, which will play next on Nov. 9, at home against Cincinnati.
Landen Thomas started at tight end for Florida State in Saturday’s 36-14 loss to Miami.
Thomas had one pass reception for 10 yards for the Seminoles who are now 1-7 and will be home to face North Carolina on Saturday.
Ryan Fitzgerald converted both of his PAT attempts.
• Alabama A&M defensive back Kaleb Dawson was credited with six solo and two assisted tackles in the 27-19 loss to Alabama State on Saturday at Legion Field in Birmingham.
The Bulldogs, now 3-4, will be home to face Southern University on Saturday.
• In Minnesota’s 48-23 victory over Maryland on Saturday, Le’Meke Brockington caught two passes for 18 yards
The win was the third in a row for the 5-3 Golden Gophers who will play at Illinois on Saturday.
• In Carson-Newman’s 17-10 loss at Emory & Henry on Saturday, freshman Turk Daniels got his eighth straight start at left guard.
Quarterback Tre Luttrell, son of Colquitt County assistant coach Stan Luttrell and Jack’s older brother, was back on the field for the Eagles after being injured several weeks ago.
Now 7-1, Carson Newman will play its Homecoming game on Saturday against Anderson on Saturday.
• In Eastern Kentucky’s 28-17 victory over Utah Tech, Jaheim Ward had three solo tackles, including one for a loss.
The 4-4 Colonels will play on Saturday at Tarleton State.
Ky’Von Rivers had an assisted tackle in Reinhardt’s 63-0 win over St. Andrews (N.C.)
Now 4-4, Reinhardt will play on Saturday at Bluefield (Va.).
Phillip Brown’s Dodge County team lost its first game of the season last Friday, falling 40-19 to Northeast.
Now 8-1 overall and second in Region 2A Division I, the Indians will play region-leading Dublin, 9-0, on Friday.
• North Forsyth ended a four-game losing streak with a 24-14 win at Alpharetta on Friday.
Robert Craft’s Raiders are now 2-4 in Region 6-6A and will not make the playoffs.
The Raiders, 4-5 overall will play Forsyth Central on Friday at home.
• Worth County defeated Jeff Davis 62-17 for its fourth-straight win.
Jeff Hammond’s No. 7-ranked Rams are 6-3 overall and are 4-1 in Region 1-A Division 1.
Worth will finish the regular season at home against Brantley County.
