The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to Moultrie and Colquitt County — Where Life Grows.
We have a thriving agricultural industry (number one in the state), many beautiful historic homes and commercial buildings, a vibrant arts center and a new, state-of-the-art medical college — the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine — South Georgia Campus. Downtown Moultrie is designated on the National Register of Historic Places, and centrally located on the square is the famed Colquitt County Courthouse. Specialty shops, antique stores and restaurants and more make up the thriving business community in Colquitt County.
Moultrie is home to the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition, North America’s Premier Farm Show and the largest farm show with field demonstrations. It is held annually on the third week of October at Spence Field. Its mission is to showcase the latest agricultural technology in static exhibits covering 100 acres and demonstrations on the 600-acre research farm. This is a great opportunity for farmers and consumers alike. Spence Field is also the host site for the Calico Arts and Crafts Show (March and November) and the Moultrie Swap Meet car show (February and November).
Reed Bingham State Park on the Colquitt-Cook county line offers excellent fishing as well as kayaking, paddle boating, walking trails, miniature golf and a camping area.
Colquitt County offers several annual festivals including a beautiful display of lights that canopy from the top of the courthouse throughout downtown Moultrie from Thanksgiving night through the first week of January. The “Lights! Lights!” festival is held every Thanksgiving evening and kicks off the holiday season in style with a memorable event for the entire family. The Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival, held each April, offers fun activities for the children and a wonderful array of artisans and craftsmen demonstrating and selling their crafts. Concerts are held on the square for the enjoyment of all. The May Day festival is held in Doerun on the first Saturday in May with lots of vendors, music and fun for the whole family.
And for the sports minded tourist there is something for you here. Moss Farms Diving is an Olympic diving well and the site of national and regional diving competitions. Moultrie is host for swim meets, tennis meets, gymnastic competitions, soccer, plus softball and baseball tournaments, and it’s home of the 2014 and 2015 AAAAAA State Champion Colquitt County Packers football team.
You can explore Colquitt County countryside via The Georgia Grown Trail: Highway 37 and visit local Georgia Grown businesses and farms for a hands-on experience.
