Colquitt County to play host to region volleyball tournament

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County will play host to the Region 1-6A volleyball tournament that will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, on the William Bryant Court at the high school.
Th single-elimination tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with No. 4 seed Camden County (4-6) facing No. 5 Tift County (1-7) and No. 3 Valdosta (6-4) meeting No. 6 Colquitt County (1-6).
In the second round, scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m., the Camden County-Tift County winner will face top-seeded Richmond Hill (9-0) and the Colquitt County-Valdosta winner will play No. 2 Lowndes (6-2).
The championship match and battle for third place will be held at 2:30 p.m.
The All-Region 1-6A team will be announced at 1 p.m.
The top four teams will advance to the state tournament, which is scheduled to begin October 15.
Region 1-6A teams will face teams from Region 1-5A in the first round, with Nos. 1 and 2 seeds playing at home.
Colquitt County will take a 9-15 overall record into the region tournament.
The senior members of the 2024 Lady Packers are head varsity manager Bailey Bonner, middle hitter/blocker Carli Brown, outside hitter/defensive specialist Juliette Turner, outside hitter Dimaree Smith, passer Zoie Hampton, middle hitter/blocker Ny’Asia Harper and setter and captain Jessie Eunice.
