Walker, Brockington get TD receptions to lead victories

MOULTRIE — Former Packer Tyler Walker caught three passes for 109 yards, including a 38-yarder for a touchdown from quarterback Spencer Arceneaux in North Alabama’s 45-9 victory over Tusculum last Friday.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Walker is a senior receiver for the Lions, who are now 2-0 as they prepare to play Limestone next Saturday at home in Livingston.
Le’Meke Brockington, Walker’s former Colquitt County teammate, also had a touchdown reception on Saturday, grabbing a 29-yarder from quarterback Max Brosmer in Minnesota’s 48-0 victory over Rhode Island.
Brockington also had an 8-yard reception for the Golden Gophers who are now 1-1 as they prepare to play host to Nevada on Saturday.
• The University of Miami’s Ny Carr had an 8-yard pass reception in the Hurricanes’ 56-9 win over Florida A&M last Saturday.
Miami, now 2-0, will play host to Ball State on Saturday.
• Linebacker Kamal Bonner had two solos and one assisted tackle for North Carolina State in a 51-10 loss to Tennessee.
The Wolfpack will be back in Raleigh to play host to Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
• Kamaar Bell got another start on the South Carolina offensive line when the Gamecocks raised their record to 2-0 in a 31-6 SEC victory over Kentucky on Saturday.
South Carolina will travel to play LSU at noon on Saturday.
• In Georgia Tech’s 31-28 loss at Syracuse on Saturday, Yellow Jackets defensive back Omar Daniels was credited with four solo and one assisted tackle.
Georgia Tech will be home on Saturday to play VMI.
• Ty French came off the bench to record three tackles, one for a loss, in West Virginia’s 49-14 win over Albany last Saturday.
The Mountaineers will play at Pitt on Saturday.
• Jack Luttrell had a 2-yard punt return in Arizona’s 22-10 win over Northern Arizona last weekend.
The 2-0 Wildcats will play at Kansas State on Friday.
• Jaheim Ward had an assisted tackle in Eastern Kentucky’s 31-0 loss to Western Kentucky last Saturday.
The 0-2 Colonels will be home to face West Georgia on Saturday.
• Former Colquitt County cross country runners Mattie Jo Rigsby and Yarely Zongua are competing this season for ABAC and took part in Valdosta State’s Border Clash last Friday at Freedom Park in Valdosta.
• Former Lady Packer Ava Dickens has been a key performer in the early going for the Andrew College volleyball team.
Dickens is a sophomore for the Fighting Tigers.
• The Thomas County Central football team rolled to a 48-10 victory over Thomasville last Friday to raise its record to 4-0.
Former Colquitt County head coach Justin Rogers has led the Yellow Jackets to a 31-1 record and a state championship since taking over the program before the 2022 season.
The Jackets will play host to 0-4 Bainbridge on Friday.
• In his ninth season as the head football coach at North Forsyth, Robert Craft has the Raiders off to a 2-1 start as they prepare to open Region 6-6A play on Friday at home against South Forsyth.
Craft is 46-43 at North Forsyth. He was 49-21 with a state championship in six seasons at North Florida Christian.
Craft was an assistant for the Packers under head coaches Tim Cokely and Rush Propst.
• Former Packer assistant coach Phillip Brown has led his first Dodge County football team to a 3-0 start.
The Indians will be home to face Vidalia on Friday.
Brown was a defensive assistant on Colquitt County’s 2016 football staff.
