7th-grade rallies to win and raise record to 3-0

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County seventh-grade football team overcame five turnovers and a 12-point deficit with less than four minutes remaining to pull out a 28-26 win over Thomas County Central Middle School on Wednesday in Thomasville.
The Packers had 294 yards of offense against Thomas County, including 170 on the ground by My’King Johnson, who scored three touchdowns.
Johnson also ran for both 2-point conversions.
Xylan Spivey had 56 yards rushing, including a 34-yard touchdown run. Spivey also had 12 pass receiving yards.
Tyrell Wright had five tackles for loss, Javion Ivey blocked a punt and Julez Irvin iced the game with an interception that allowed the Colquitt offense to kneel on the ball and run out the clock to preserve the victory.
The victory raises the Packers record to 3-0 as they prepare for three more road games in a row.
Colquitt will travel to Coffee on September 11; Valdosta, on September 18; and Lowndes, on September 25.
The seventh-graders will close out the season with a game against Pine Grove at 4 p.m. on Oct. 2 in the Hawg Pen.
