MOULTRIE — Colquitt County welcomed home its first Olympian Monday with a parade and a presentation of the Key to the City of Moultrie.
Carson Tyler placed fourth in the Men’s Springboard competition at the Paris Olympics Aug. 8.
Tyler also qualified in the Men’s Platform event, only the third American to participate in both Olympic diving events, but he was eliminated in the first round of competition Aug. 9.
Residents of Moultrie and Colquitt County had followed the Moss Farms diver’s progress on the world’s biggest stage, and when he came home they celebrated alongside him.
Moultrie Mayor Bill McIntosh presented Tyler with a Key to the City, and both city and county officials signed a joint proclamation in his honor.
