CCHS celebrates gains in Advanced Placement Program

MOULTRIE – Colquitt County High School announces achievements in its Advanced Placement Program for the 2023-2024 school year. These accomplishments reflect the dedication of the students and educators and their commitment to academic excellence.
CCHS students have made significant strides in several AP subjects, with performance far exceeding both previous years and global averages:
• Calculus AB: Increase from 80% in 2023 to a perfect 100% in 2024, compared to the global average of 64%.
• Chemistry: 100% in 2023 and 2024, surpassing the global average of 75%.
• English Literature: Increase from 64% in 2023 to 100% in 2024, well above the global average of 72%.
• Government: A significant improvement from 27% in 2023 to 76% in 2024, outperforming the global average of 73%.
• Physics 1: An increase from 47% in 2023 to 57% in 2024, above the global average of 46%.
• Pre-Calculus: A new AP course in 2023 with a strong first year, outperforming the global average by 18%.
• World History: A substantial jump from 53% in 2023 to 73% in 2024, exceeding the global average of 64%.
Students who have earned the distinction of 2024 AP Scholar are as follows:
Students who received scores of three or higher on three or more AP exams, who were awarded 2024 AP Scholars, include Rasheedat O. Agboola (11th Grade), Carson W. Connell (11th Grade), Bawitin Ram (11th Grade), Jack T. Taunton (11th Grade), Owen P. Croft (12th Grade), Aaron B. Dunn (12th Grade), Banks S. Flowers (12th Grade), Trent E. Hill (12th Grade), Hannah Huante (12th Grade), Emily G. Lampman (12th Grade), Lana J. Lopez (12th Grade), Emanuel Ramiro-Perez (12th Grade), Alexander Serrano-Lopez (12th Grade), Isabel C. Taylor (12th Grade), Lauren E. Wogan (12th Grade), Summer C. Allbrooks (Graduate), Yadhira Alvarez (Graduate), Jackson F. Ballard (Graduate) and Charimaine A. Dauphin (Graduate).
Students who received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on four or more of these exams, who were awarded 2024 AP Scholars with Honor, include Willis McCranie (11th Grade), Lucas M. Babb (12th Grade) and Anna C. Hiers (12th Grade).
Students who received an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on five or more of these exams, who were awarded 2024 AP Scholars with Distinction, include Blaine Autrey (12th Grade), Sara E. Cooper (12th Grade), Caleb Z. Schmidt (12th Grade), Jack M. Still (12th Grade), Quince J. McCloud (Graduate) and Karson L. Smith (Graduate).
Chris Merritt, CCHS principal, said, “These achievements are a testament to our students’ hard work and perseverance and the unwavering support of our teachers and staff. We are immensely proud of our student’s accomplishments and look forward to continuing to support their academic journeys.”
