OMEGA — Library Everywhere is adding a new stop to its route: The City Hall meeting room in Omega. Those in the Omega area wishing to use the mobile library’s services can go to its kick-off visit 3-4 p.m. Aug. 7. Beginning that date, Library Everywhere will be there 3-4 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Omega City Hall is located at 5518 Alabama Ave.

“Library Everywhere is a valuable resource that allows us to extend services beyond our reach. The Tifton Library looks forward to partnering with Library Everywhere to boost its resources educators, seniors and community members of Omega. It is a pleasure to serve Tift County in all of our rural communities,” said Karen Thompson, branch manager of the Tifton-Tift County Public Library. In addition to the new site in Omega, Library Everywhere also visits Ty Ty City Hall every first and third Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Library card registration and free wireless internet are available at every visit. Library materials like Chromebooks, launchpads, passes, books, and DVDs are available for checkout, and copying, printing, a seed library, notarization, and computers for public use will be there as available. A library card is needed to check out materials, but you do not need a card to use any of the other services. All services are free.

Library Everywhere began as a project assisted through a grant from the Georgia Public Library Service with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Its directive was to bring vital library services to folks not within walking distance of their closest local library. Following the end of its grant period, it continues to operate through local, regional, and state support, and locally serves as a mobile extension of the Tifton-Tift County Public Library in Tifton.

Library Everywhere is a mobile branch of the Coastal Plain Regional Library System, serving Ben Hill, Berrien, Cook, Irwin, Tift, and Turner counties. For more information, please contact Allison Young, outreach services coordinator, at 229-402-9115 or outreach@cprl.org.
