Murder suspect released on bail

MOULTRIE — A little over two years after given seven different charges in regards to the death of two individuals and an unborn child, El’Driquez Silas Jr. is now out on bail.

It was on March 17, 2022 when 50-year-old Charles Butt and 18-year-old Ja’Mya McIntosh, who was pregnant at the time of her murder, were found shot to death inside their residence at the Arts Center Apartments.

A week later, on March 26, 2022, Silas, who was 19 years old at the time, was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of malice murder, one count of feticide, one charge of home invasion in the first degree and one charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

he initial press release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, dated March 28, 2022, stated that McIntosh was dating a relative of Butt’s, though it doesn’t name the individual. It also stated Silas had recently visited the apartment the deceased had shared before the homicides occurred.

Originally, on July 22, 2022, a bond option was given to Silas in the amount of $300,000.

This amount has been reduced twice. On May 24, 2023, it was reduced to $150,000, and on June 20, 2024, the bond was reduced to $75,000.

Five days later, on June 25, Silas bonded out.

Currently, he is restricted to home confinement and must wear an ankle bracelet. He is additionally being monitored by the Pretrial Release Program.

Silas served 822 days in the Colquitt County jail before bonding out and is still waiting his arraignment date.
