MOULTRIE — Two events will be held at the end of June, both of them sponsored by community organizations and spearheaded by Teens Have Visions 2.
The events are hosted by Teens Have Visions 2, The Raising Her Project, Hope House and NAMI Moultrie.
“We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a family day at the pool in collaboration with Teens Have Visions 2 and the Raising Her Project for the families enrolled in the Hope House Parenting Center Education Program,” said Anna Chappell, CEO of Hope House of Moultrie.
On Thursday, June 27, the Family Pool and Pizza event will be held at the Northwest Pool, 735 Fifth Ave. N.W. The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and features free drinks and food. Entry to the pool is free but RSVP’s must be sent to donna@hopehousecares.org.
“Our event aims to provide a fun and relaxing day for our clients and their families. We currently have over 80 families participating and are eager to spend quality time with them, learning more about their families while also receiving important information about first aid and pool safety from Michele Smith, director of Teens Have Visions 2,” said Chappell.
The Raising Her Project, organized by Teens Have Visions 2 Inc. and sponsored by United Way of Colquitt County, partnered with the Hope House Women’s Clinic in January 2024 to offer skilled workshops, activities, and training to families, said Michele Smith, CEO of Teens Have Visions 2.
“To better serve the community, each month we collaborate with local organizations/professionals to coordinate workshops for families. Our workshops are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, at 6 p.m., at the Hope House Women’s Clinic. We have had the opportunity to organize the following workshops this year: Goal Setting, Financial Literacy, CPR Certifications, and Mommies and Mental Health,” said Smith.
She also said that the goal of the workshops was to promote building healthy families and quality time. “Due to financial hardships and other obligations, not all families are fortunate enough to take their families on lavish trips or plan a huge party for each accomplishment, so this workshop will give families insight into local resources and things they can do to enjoy their families during the summer,” Smith said.
“Building strong families is crucial for a thriving community, and we are grateful to have wonderful community partners working with us to achieve this goal in Moultrie-Colquitt County. We hope that our families will enjoy the event and leave with new connections and valuable life skills,” said Chappell.
The next Raising Her Project workshop will be a Zumba workshop, to promote wellness on July 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. “Our local NAMI-Moultrie has honored Teens Have Visions 2 Inc. with the opportunity to organize a youth event to promote Mental Health Awareness,” said Smith.
On Friday, June 28, the Striking Out Mental Health event will be held at Strike Zone 10 Bowling Alley, 28 Industrial Drive. The teen mental health event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. and entry is free. The participants will receive a free swag bag with resources, school supplies, and other items and a free lunch will be provided. Text “REGISTER” to (229) 319-8486 to attend this event or email to teenshavevisions2@gmail.com.
“Our goal is to provide the teens with resources and guidance and hear their perspectives on mental health. We will have experienced professionals and peer specialists present to engage and help teens identify ways to manage their mental health over a game of bowling and discussions,” Smith said. “We are excited to educate the teens with strategies for Striking Out Mental Health.”
