MOULTRIE – A 38-year-old Moultrie man faces two felony charges after he was accused of pushing his girlfriend against a wall while choking her.
The incident took place last Wednesday in Southwest Moultrie, Moultrie police said, and at this time it is unknown what initiated the altercation.
Beginning verbally on the front porch, the argument quickly turned physical after entering the home of the couple’s friend.
The Moultrie Police Department Chief of Police Chad Castleberry stated the situation was reported by the friend after he pushed the button on his medical alert device.
“By the time deputies arrived both had left the scene,” said Castleberry.
The pair were found hiding in bushes not far away, he said, and the man tried to avoid the authorities.
Both the victim and the assailant had injuries from the altercation as the 54-year-old fought off her boyfriend. She was not charged as her actions were considered self-defense.
The 38-year-old is currently out on bail, but has been charged with both false imprisonment and aggravated assault.
