Niday, Beck Gregory lead Moultrie in Y Nationals

MOULTRIE — Representing the Moultrie YMCA, ElliReese Niday and Beck Gregory won on all three boards to take first-place overall finishes in the 2024 YMCA National Championships held May 9-12 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In the girls competition, Niday led a group of four Moultrie divers that finished in the top seven, with Austin Leigh Taylor placing second, Kendall Deloach fourth and Amelia Gregory coming in seventh.

Beck Gregory tied for first with YMCA of the South’s James Boardman and YMCA of Westside Silver Fins’ Levi Berlyn.
Niday, one of the nation’s top junior divers, was coming off a performance in the Laura Wilkinson Gold Invitational in Shenandoah, Texas, in which she competed in 12-13 girls and won the two springboard events and the 3M synchro competition.
The Woodlands Diving Academy-sponsored event included 203 divers.
At Y Nationals, Niday also finished first in the prelims in all three events in 12-13 girls.
Beck Gregory competed in the 12-13 boys age group and also was first in both prelims and all three finals.
Taylor was first in the 1-meter and platform events and was third on 3-meter in 14-15 girls.

She was first in prelims on both springboards.
The Moultrie YMCA also received a gold medal performance from Elizabeth Hobby in the 16-21 girls platform event that featured 18 entries.
Hobby was eighth in the finals on 3-meter.
Deloach, in 14-15 girls, was second in both 1-meter and platform and third in 1-meter.
Amelia Gregory was second on 3-meter and third on both 1-meter and platform in 12-13 girls.
Tuck Gregory also turned in a strong performance for the Moultrie contingent, finishing as the runner-up on both springboards and third on platform in 16-21 boys.
Trip Gregory performed only on platform in 16-21 boys and turned in a second-place finish.
Also competing for the Moultrie YMCA team were William Tyson, who was fourth on both springboards in 14-15 boys; Jewel Hart, who was third on platform and seventh on both springboards in 16-21 girls; Landon Thomas, who was sixth on 3-meter and seventh on 1-meter in 12-13 boys; Thomas Thomas IV, who was seventh on 1-meter on 14-15 boys; and Steele Weeks, who was eighth on 1-meter in 12-13 boys.
The Moultrie YMCA was second overall at Y Nationals, finishing behind the team representing Schroeder YMCA from Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
Moultrie’s girls placed second and the boys were third.
