MOULTRIE — Colquitt County’s Cayden Parker was selected as the Academic Player of the Year and freshman second baseman Bryce Roberts was named to the first team on the Region 1-7A baseball team selected by the region’s coaches.

Named to the second team from Colquitt County are pitcher Logan Plymel, shortstop Adam Beverly, outfielders Cam Cook and Brady DeRosso and catcher Hayden Hembree.

Region champion Lowndes took the other three top region awards with Ryan Page named Coach of the Year; Tate Sirmans, Player of the Year; and Noah Thigpen, Pitcher of the Year.

Joining Roberts on the first team are pitchers Bryce Hendricks and Noah Stone of region runner-up Richmond Hill, Skyler Howell of Valdosta, Will Johnson of Camden County and Matthew Kerrigan of Lowndes; infielders Talon Daignault of Camden County, Cason Fletcher and Carson Page of Lowndes, and Alex Harwood and Grant Wagner of Richmond Hill; outfielders Jordan Hudson and Coleman Lewis of Lowndes, Lee Johnson of Richmond Hill, Andre Mason of Valdosta and Caden Napier of Camden County; and catchers Nate Slaughter of Lowndes and Gavin Martin of Richmond Hill.

Also receiving second-team recognition are pitchers Ashton Bohler of Lowndes, Aiden Pluff of Richmond Hill and Caden Sullivan of Camden County; infielders Connor Gilkey and Victor Villella of Richmond Hill and Carter Hickox and Darrell Hough of Camden County; outfielder Kevin Hull of Camden County; and catchers Elijah Cox of Camden County and Turner Samples of Valdosta.

Parker, a speedy senior outfielder, was Colquitt County’s STAR Student and had the senior class’s highest grade point average. He is headed to Georgia Southern to study engineering.

Cook, also a senior, led the Packers in hitting with a .376 batting average. Among his team-leading 35 base hits were 14 doubles and a home run.

Beverly, who hit .278, led the Packers in runs batted in with 21.

Plymel, a sophomore, went 4-3 with a team-leading 1.71 ERA.

He made 10 appearances, including four starts, and struck out 32 batters in 28.2 innings. Opponents batted just .200 against him.
