Hall, Baker place second In SJGT event at Sunset

MOULTRIE — Sunset Country Club junior golfers Michael Hall and Austin Baker finished tied for second in their age groups in the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour’s Sunset Country Club Junior Classic on Sunday.

The two-day tournament, held for the second year in a row in Moultrie, drew 91 golfers from around the Southeast.

Hall shot a 69-74 for a 1-under par 143 in the boys 16-18 age group.

He was tied with Alpharetta’s Jack Callahan, who shot 74-69.

Macon’s Jack Parel, who had 10 birdies over the two days, was first with a 70-67 for a 7-under 137.

There were 46 players in the age group.

Baker played in the 14-15 age group and shot a 70-76 for a 2-over 146.

He was tied with Valdosta’s Camden Yager and Atlanta’s Whitty Richardson.

Donalsonville’s Jack Palmer, who shot a 2-under 70 each day, was first with a 140.

Two Sunset juniors competed in the 12-13 age group.

Davis Hall finished in a three-way tie for seventh place after shooting a 79-80 for an 8-over 159.

Davis Hall was tied with Wells King of Birmingham, Ala., and Aarav Badlani of Johns Creek, Ga.

David Herndon shot an 82-87 for a 169 and was 11th.

SJ Thomas of Birmingham, Ala., was first in the 12-13 age group with his 2-over 146.

Although there was rain on Sunday, play was never stopped.
