MOULTRIE — Moultrie Bank & Trust, in just a couple of years since opening its doors, has moved from a modest location in a strip center to a two-story plantation-style building that seems to be everything one could ever want from a hometown in bank.

On Wednesday, April 10, a ribbon cutting was held by the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce to mark the occasion.

Moultrie Bank & Trust President Donna Lott welcomed the crowd saying, “We have finally made it into our brand-new building.”

She said that they appreciated the support of the community, the shareholders and the accountholders who came to them on May 9, 2022, when they first opened, and have watched them grow into a facility that can serve the local community.

“We appreciate all of the well-wishes and the encouragement all along the way. We know it’s been a little bit of a bumpy road with the economic environment but we have held in there and we truly appreciate all of your support,” Lott said.

The ribbon cutting, which included a casual drop-in lunch provided by Joe Kem’s Bar-B-Que, was the kick-off to other activities that bank has planned for the rest of the week. Later in the afternoon there was a bounce house for the kids and The Mix Fro-Yo truck was on-site.

Thursday morning, Lott said, the bank would open at 8 a.m. and kick-off the day with “Biscuits and Banking” and in the afternoon, from 2 to 5 p.m., there will be mini-golf and the Kona ice truck will be on-site.

“We would love to see you, come and get to know our bankers,” she said.

The Rocco’s Italian Streetfood truck will be catering lunch onsite from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

“So, I’ve got your lunches and breakfasts covered for the rest of the week,” Lott said, which drew laughter from the audience.

She told them that she and her staff wanted to use this time to open their facility up and let everyone see what they’ve built and give everyone the opportunity to get to know their employees.

“We’re so appreciative of the support we’ve had from the community. It was a tremendous turnout today. We’re 486 shareholders strong and we’re so appreciative of all that they’ve done to help us get this off the ground,” she said after the ribbon cutting.
