ATLANTA — A contractor plans to shift traffic on State Route 133 onto a newly constructed detour, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced last week.
The traffic shift involves less than a mile of roadway, from milepost 6 to 6.7 in Worth County.
It is scheduled to begin Thursday, April 4, but is expected to be in place long term, potentially a year or more, the GDOT said.
Once traffic has moved, the existing roadway will be removed and new lanes will be built.
This is one of four sections of State Route 133 that is currently being reconstructed/widened. This section runs from north of the Colquitt County line to north of State Route 112, a little over six miles. The current scheduled completion date for the section is the summer of 2026.
