Packers track and field win 2nd place in meet

MOULTRIE — Winning second place overall, the Packers had a total of 23 placements with a single digit during the Hiram Johnson sixth annual underclassmen track and field event on Wednesday, hosted at Lowndes.

Five of those placements were second place finishes, which was the highest for the Packers during this meet.
During both the 100- and 200-meter relay races, the Packers took second place.
Jalen Clayton, Ameri Knighton and Joshua Alford ran in both races.
For the 100, the athlete that completed the relay team was Samuel Oneal.
The race was completed in 44 seconds, 86 milliseconds.
Naryan Spivey rounded out the quartet for the 200 relay, and the finish line was crossed after 1:34.09.

Two more of the second place finishes also came via track events: the 100 and the 200.
Alford, with a finishing time of 11.05, came in second. Immediately following was Clayton in third with a time of 11.13.
Oneal also competed in the 100 and placed fifth.
The 200 also saw three Packers place: Clayton, Knighton and Oneal.
Second place went to Clayton, who crossed the finish line in 23.42.
Also race, and finishing fifth place with a time of 23.51, was Knighton and behind him in sixth, with a time of 23.64, was Oneal.
The final second place finish for the Packers came from the triple jump with NiShawn Osby’s 39 foot, 6 inch jump.
Knighton also competed in the triple jump and took third with a distance of 39-5.
One other third place finish went to the Packers during the 4×400 — Timothy Downs, Alfonso McNeil, Raheem King and Isiah Wingfield — who finished the race in 3:49.78.
Wingfield also competed in the 400 and took fifth with a time of 55.83.
The longest footrace, the 800, saw three Packers place.
8th place was awarded to Andrick EsQuivel, who finished in 2:28.56, and in ninth was Quintarious Mitchell, who crossed the line when the timer read 2:29.62.
McNiel took seventh in the 300 hurdle with a time of 47.20, and preceding him in sixth, with a time of 46.53, was Niterrian Wallace.
Wallace also competed in the 100 hurdle and took sixth after crossing the finish line in 18.61.
The four remaining events that the Packers placed in were all in field events.
Discus saw two athletes place: NyCorius McNeil and Javon Jordan.
McNiel placed fourth with a throw of 92-11 and right behind him was Jordan in fifth with a throw of 70-05.
Placing sixth in shot put was McNeil after a throw of 34-09.
The high jump say Wingfield take sixth with a height of 5-04.
Seventh in the long jump was achieved by Arbashaun with a distance of 17-10.
The Packers will next compete at the Cook County Quad Meet on April 11.
