Janice Lawhorn, of Thomasville, displays a scrapbook she made of her experiences at Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve in Grady County.

MOULTRIE — The Magnolia Garden Club met on March 2 at the home of Mary Phillips. After a delicious salad and dessert lunch, the president made a few announcements.

Phillips then introduced the guest speaker, Janice Lawhorn from Thomasville, Georgia. Ms. Lawhorn is an avid gardener, and presented a program on The Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve located in Grady County. Established in 2009, it is a 140-acre conservation area that protects many acres of trout lilies and trilliums that only bloom in late January through March. The preserve has the largest number of dimpled trout lilies in the world. Ms. Lawhorn shared her experiences of walking the trails, and shared a scrapbook of her visits. The program was very informative, and enjoyed by all.

Phillips shared a pineapple plant that she rooted. It was beautiful.

The meeting was adjourned.
