Colquitt boys golf team places second at River Pointe

MOULTRIE — Behind sophomore Michael Hall’s 72, the Colquitt County boys golf team shot a season-low 309 to place second in Monday’s Trojan Invitational at River Pointe Golf Club in Albany.

The Packers’ other top-four scores were turned in by freshmen.

Peyton Collins had a career-low 76, that was eighth in the 60-player field.

Leighton Hood came in 13th with his 79. Reese Hood shot 82.

Senior David Strange shot an 84.

Hall’s score placed him third individually.

The Packers’ previous low round this season was a 313 shot at Valdosta Country Club in the Wildcat Invitational on Feb. 26.

The Lowndes A team won the Lee County-sponsored tournament with a 300.

The Colquitt boys will play next when they travel on Monday, March 18, to compete in Lowndes High’s Viking Invitational at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta.

Also on Monday, the Colquitt County middle school boys golf team placed third in the Trojan Invitational at Douglas Country Club.

The Baby Packers’ 326 was led by Cavin Hall’s 70.

Also playing for Colquitt County were Davis Hall, who shot 78; David Herndon, who had an 82; Ches Redding, 96; Brayden Nolan, 100; and Pate Vines, 103.

The middle school boys will play next on Tuesday, March 26, at Kinderlou Forest.
