Lady Packers varsity have one 1st place finish during home meet

MOULTRIE — The Lady Packers lone first place finish during the varsity home track and field meet on Wednesday came from the 4×100 relay team. 

With a finishing time of 51.42 seconds the team – Aziah McNeal, Rajayla McBride, Messiah Bender and Nacardia Robinson –  beat out five other schools and was ahead of second place finisher by .2 seconds. 

The same lineup of athletes was used during the 4×200, and the quartet received second place with a finishing time of 1:51.02. 

Seven other placements for the Lady Packers would be within those coveted top three spots.

Robinson also took second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.96.

In the 400, Dalivia McBride came in second with a finishing time of 1:05.91; and, she also placed second in the high jump with 5-2. 

Rajayla McBride’s triple jump of 35-6.5 won her second place.

Also placing within the top 10 in the high jump was YaKerria Moore with 4-10 for a fifth place finish. 

third place finishers go to Aubrey Edge for her 30-4.25 throw in shot put, Moore for her 27.27 finishing time in the 200 and Saniyah Bowman with a finishing time of 56.27 in the 300 hurdle. 

Brianna Hill also placed in the 300 hurdles with a finishing time of 58.27 for sixth place. 

Seven more single digit placements would go to the Lady Packers. 

Track events would see five of them. 

Running the 800, Yarely Zongua took ninth with a finishing time of 3:07.84. 

Placing fourth in the 1,600 meter was also Zongua. Taking ninth in the same event was Allison Quiroz. 

Hill took fifth in the 100 hurdle with a time of 21.05. 

Also taking fifth was the relay team for the 4×800 – Zongua, Quiroz, Karen Mendoza and Monai Alexander – who completed the race in 14:07:99. 

The final two placements would be in field events. 

Robinson, with a jump of 14-3, took eighth place in the long jump. 

In discus, Ny’Erieah Daniels took seventh with a throw of 35-6.5

The Lady Packers will have their next meet, also at Packer Park, on March 20. The first even begins at 4 p.m.
