MOULTRIE — Colquitt County’s Carson Tyler took first place in both the 3-meter and platform events at the Big Ten Championships last weekend, winning the Diver of the Championship Award for the second straight year.

The Indiana University junior’s final score of 453.90 points on the 3-meter board along with his platform score of 462.60 contributed to his winning the top diver award again.

He now has won a Big Ten first-place finish on each diving board.

Tyler helped Indiana take home its third consecutive and 30th overall Big Ten title at the Championships, held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

John Fox, Tyler’s former coach at Moss Farms Diving and now the head coach at Auburn, said that he believes Tyler has a chance to sweep all three boards at the NCAA Championships, which will be held March 27-30 at Indiana.

Hunter Kebler, Tyler’s former Moss Farms Diving teammate, will compete on platform in this weekend’s NCAA Zone B Championships to be held at the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the University of Georgia campus.

A strong performance could earn Kebler, a senior at Auburn, a berth in the National Championships.
