Southwest Georgia Community Action Council is looking for scholarship applicants

MOULTRIE — The Southwest Georgia Community Action Council and the Georgia Community Action Association are looking for applicants for a $2,500 scholarship.
A scholarship will be awarded, on a statewide basis, to a Georgia resident who is currently attending a post-secondary educational institution or has been accepted at such an educational institution.
The scholarship will be paid directly to the educational institution and the recipient will be invited to the Georgia Community Action Association Annual Training Conference in Savannah in July.
The individual must be income eligible in accordance with the Community Services Block Grant guidelines and be successfully judged a winner in an essay writing competition.
The maximum annual income to be eligible for a one-person household is $30,120; two people is $40,880; three people is $51,640; four people is $62,400; five people is $73,160; and six people is $83,920. The essay is to be titled “What Community Action Has Meant to My Community” and must include the topics “History,” “Impact of Movement on You and Your Community,” and “How You View Community Action in the 21st Century.” The essay should not be more than three pages, double-spaced.
The Georgia Community Action Association is a professional association composed of 20 member agencies from across the state, one of which is Southwest Georgia Community Action Council in Moultrie.
