Merritt named next principal of Colquitt County High School

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Board of Education has named Christopher Merritt the next Colquitt County High School (CCHS) Principal at a special called meeting Friday morning.

Dan Chappuis, incoming superintendent and current CCHS principal, shared, “We are excited to announce Dr. Chris Merritt as the next principal of CCHS. He has a wealth of leadership experience as a high school principal, assistant principal, and athletic director. He has a strong background in instructional leadership and extracurricular activities. We look forward to having Dr. Merritt join Packer Nation.”

Merritt is currently the principal of Bainbridge High School. He is married to Susanne Merritt, and they have one daughter, Hazel Grace. He is a 2006 graduate of Colquitt County High School and received his Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from William Carey University Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Merritt said, “I am humbled and honored to be selected to serve the students, staff, and Packer community as the next principal of the high school. As a CCHS graduate, it is the most rewarding professional achievement to return home to the community that invested so much in me; now, I get the opportunity to give back to current and future Packers. My [wife] and I are excited to come home and invest our lives in the Colquitt County community.”
