The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System is a place for people to connect with resources, ideas, the community, and even the past. MCCLS consists of the Moultrie Library, the Odom Genealogy Library, the Doerun Municipal Library, and – coming soon – the mobile library known as RoLi (Roving Library), which will provide outreach services across Colquitt County with a new, state of the art vehicle.
The Moultrie-Colquitt County Library System (est. 1907) is part of Georgia’s statewide PINES network, which includes over 300 libraries covering 146 counties. PINES cardholders enjoy a shared collection of 10.6 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge. Cardholders can also download the free PINES app, where they can search the catalog, place holds, and renew their items.
The library’s local collection contains books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, learning tablets, ukuleles, and Chromebooks, as well as passes to Chehaw Park, Zoo Atlanta, Georgia State Parks, and other Georgia attractions. A shared collection of e-books, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines is also available through the free Libby app.
All resources can be accessed with a free PINES library card, available for anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Georgia.
Access to computers and printing is available at all MCCLS locations. Free Wi-Fi is available inside and outside the buildings as well as in the parking lots, no password necessary. The Moultrie Library offers fax, lamination, and notary services for a small fee. Georgia Gateway Benefits Kiosks are available at the Moultrie and Doerun Libraries to login or create an account to access Georgia Gateway for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), CAPS (Childcare and Parent Services), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Medicaid, and Georgia WIC (Women, Infants, and Children).
The programs and spaces offered by MCCLS give people ways to connect with the library and with each other. The Moultrie Library has an auditorium, classroom, and two study rooms that can be reserved for meetings of various sizes.
The children’s room of the Moultrie Library is equipped with educational play areas, computers designed for children, and, of course, thousands of books.
The teen room is a great hangout spot, with a variety of board games and video games. MCCLS hosts programs for all ages year-round, including weekly storytimes for babies and preschoolers, a monthly crafting club and book club for adults, and a monthly ukulele club for ages 5 and up.
Special events and programs are available throughout the year, including the popular summer reading program with exciting performers and fun reading incentives, enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Visit mccls.org to view the full calendar.
The Ellen Payne Odom Genealogical Library, an approved AAA attraction, is a destination for genealogy researchers all over the country. The Odom Library collects, preserves, and organizes materials for research covering Colquitt County, the State of Georgia, and the Southeastern United States.
The collection of materials concerning Scottish genealogy is unique because the Odom Library is the archival and genealogical “home” to more than 120 Scottish Clan organizations.
Materials as diverse as The American Cherokee Confederacy and an evolving collection of Southwest Georgia newspapers on microfilm may also be found in our collections.
