Colquitt AAA, AA teams drop home DH to TCC

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County AAA and AA baseball teams took a pair of one-run losses in a doubleheader against Thomas County Central on Monday on Ike Aultman Field at Jerry Croft Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets scored all three of their runs in the top of the fourth inning and held off a last-inning AAA Packers rally to get a 3-2 victory.

Davis Lightsey and Owen Bennett combined to allow just three runs and three hits, but the AAA Packers managed just two hits of their own.
Colquitt took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when a Bowen DeRosso sacrifice fly drove in Jesus Vazquez, who had walked.
But the Yellow Jackets used a hit batsman and an infield error to score all three of their runs in the top of the next inning.
Colquitt scored one run in the fifth when Carter Summerlin drew a bases-loaded walk.
But the Packers could not get the tying run across and left the bases loaded.
Ethan Allegood had a double and Carter Penuel a single for the Packers only hits.

The AAA team will play at Tift County 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
In the AA game, the Packers scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but still came up on the short end of 7-6 score.
The Yellow Jackets scored a run in the first, four in the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth to lead 7-0.
Colquitt got all four of its hits in the fifth.
Jackson Edwards and Hardin Reeves pitched first 4.1 inning for the Packer.
James Horne retired both of the batters he faced in the top of the fifth.
The AA Packers will travel to Tift County for a 4:30 p.m. game on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
