YMCA gymnasts break 10 records in Rose City Invitational

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie YMCA gymnastics team recently competed at the Rose City Invitational in Thomasville, Ga.

The meet was held at the Butler Mason YMCA by the Thomasville Twisters Gymnastics team.

“It was a very exciting weekend for the MG’s,” said Coach Dawn Harvell. “Everyone on all levels had a great competition. We broke 10 team records. Thanks to the hard work of gymnasts and coaches, we really shined.”

The Xcel Bronze team placed 1st for team with a 115.15.

Their team score gives them an average of 9.6 for each event.

They were in the 3rd session on Saturday.

“They just started this level in June with not many of the skills, but have been dedicated to learning them,” Harvell said. “We are having a great season. Several have already learned the next level skills. I’m looking forward to seeing where these girls progress to.”

Libby Parish, in age group SR C, was our top scorer placing 1st in the AA with a score of 38.75 (MG Record and personal best). She placed 1st on vault, 9.875 (MG Record and personal best), 1st on bars, 9.65 (personal best), 1st on beam, 9.575 (MG Record and personal best), and 1st on floor, 9.65 (personal best). She also had the highest AA for all Xcel Bronze girls and received a snow globe.

Maggie Bozeman in the SR C age group placed 2nd in the AA with a score of 37.925 (personal best). She placed 2nd on vault, 9.65 (personal best), 5th on bars, 9.325, 2nd on beam, 9.45 (personal best), and tied for 2nd on floor, 9.50.

Sofia Molina in the SR B age group tied for 1st in the AA with a score of 37.625. She tied for 5th on vault, 9.0, 1st on bars, 9.825 (MG Record and personal best), 4th on beam, 9.175, and 1st on floor, 9.625.

Josie Bozeman in the SR B age group tied for 1st in the AA with a score of 37.625 (personal best). She placed 1st on vault, 9.8 (personal best), 3rd on bars, 9.375 (personal best), 6th on beam, 9.1, and 4th on floor, 9.35.

Leila Garner in the JR B age group placed 4th in the AA with a score of 36.15 (personal best). She placed 4th on vault, 8.75, 5th on bars, 9.05, 2nd on beam, 9.05, and 2nd on floor, 9.3.

“The Level 4s competed in the fourth session on Saturday and finished 2nd with a team score of 108.00,” Harvell said. “Their team score gives them an average of 9.00 for each event. We have been working really hard on improving in this level and at this meet they showed it. They broke two MG Records and had six personal bests. There are only three girls in this level and they are working hard to improve their skills and to improve at every meet we go to.”

Kenya Poblete Morris in the JR age division broke the MG Record and had a personal best with an AA score of 36.375 earning 1st place. She tied for 2nd on vault, 9.15, 2nd on bars, 9.2 (personal best), 4th on beam, 8.975 (personal best), and 5th on floor, 9.05. Kenya also had the highest AA for all Level 4s and received a snow globe.

Joselyn Juarez in the SR age division placed 2nd in the AA with a score of 35.875. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.05, 6th on bars, 8.45, 1st on beam, 9.2, and 2nd on floor, 9.175.

Lylah Anderson in the SR age division placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 35.75 giving her a personal best. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.1 (personal best), 2nd on bars, 9.25 (MG Record and personal best), 4th on beam, 8.75, and 7th on floor, 8.65.

Also in the 4th session on Saturday were the Level 6 gymnasts. They placed 2nd as a team with a score of 106.225.

“This gave them an average of 8.9 per event. We will go back to the gym and work on improving our scores by the next meet in two weeks. They had really strong floor routines at this meet,” said Harvell.

Eliza Jane Reagan in the JR age division placed 2nd in the AA with a score of 36.1. She tied for 1st on vault, 9.0, 2nd on bars, 9.1, 1st on beam, 9.1, and 5th on floor, 8.9.

Nataleigh Bryant in the JR age division placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 35.275. She placed 4th on vault, 8.75, 3rd on bars, 8.825 (personal best), 4th on beam, 8.6, and 3rd on floor, 9.10.

Kayla Scroggins in the SR age division placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 34.85. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.175, 1st on bars, 8.225, 4th on beam, 8.4, and 4th on floor, 9.05.

The Xcel Silver team competed in the first session on Sunday. They placed 2nd as a team with a score of 113.325. This gave them an average score of 9.4 per event.

Katie Poblete Morris in the JR A age division placed 1st in the AA with a score of 38.1. This made her the MG Record holder and gave her a personal best. She was also the top scorer for all Xcel Silver girls and won a snow globe. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.525 (personal best), 3rd on bars, 9.425, 1st on beam, 9.45 (personal best), and 1st on floor, 9.7 (MG Record and personal best).

Olivia Eubanks in the JR A age division placed 2nd in the AA with a score of 37.65 (personal best). She placed 1st on vault, 9.65 (MG Record and personal best), 4th on bars, 9.4, 2nd on beam, 9.15, and 2nd on floor, 9.45 (personal best).

Katie Goble in the JR A age division placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.25 (personal best). She placed 8th on vault, 8.95 (personal best), 8th on bars, 9.2, 3rd on beam, 9.1, and tied for 7th on floor, 9.0.

Lexi Miller in the JR A age division, placed 8th in the AA with a score of 35.9. She tied for 3rd on vault, 9.3 (personal best), 6th on bars, 9.3 (personal best), 8th on beam, 8.1, and 5th on floor, 9.2.

Alyssa Howell in the JR B age division placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.625 (personal best). She placed 4th on vault, 9.075, 2nd on bars, 9.7 (MG Record and personal best), 5th on beam, 8.8, and tied for 6th on floor, 9.05.

Whitley Bozeman in the JR B age division placed 6th in the AA with a score of 36.425 (personal best). She tied for 6th on vault, 9.0, 7th on bars, 9.175, 3rd on beam, 9.25, and 8th on floor, 9.0.

Brantlee Majors in the SR A age division placed 6th in the AA with a score of 35.45. She placed 6th on vault, 9.025, 5th on bars, 9.2, 5th on beam, 8.45, and tied for 5th on floor, 8.775.

Allegra Porteus in the SR A age division placed 8th in the AA with a score of 34.45. She placed 7th on vault, 8.9, 6th on bars, 9.175, 7th on beam, 8.0, and 8th on floor, 8.375.

Naomi De La Cruz in the SR B age group placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 36.85. She placed 1st on vault, 9.325, 6th on bars, 9.15, 3rd on beam, 9.075, and 3rd on floor, 9.3.

The Xcel Gold team competed in the second and final session on Sunday. They placed 5th with a team score of 106.35. This gave them an 8.9 average per event.

Ava Solanki in the JR A age division placed 4th in the AA with a score of 35.25. She placed 4th on vault, 8.725 (personal best), tied for 1st on bars, 9.325 (personal best), 4th on beam, 8.0 and 4th on floor, 9.2 (personal best).

Maddy Booth in the JR A age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 32.05. She placed 5th on vault, 8.65 (personal best), 7th on bars, 7.25, 7th on beam, 7.1, and 6th on floor, 9.05.

Julianne Carson in the JR B age division placed 6th in the AA with a score of 35.00 (personal best). She tied for 6th on vault, 8.525, 7th on bars, 8.85 (personal best), 7th on beam, 8.4 (personal best), and 5th on floor, 9.225(personal best).

Kinsley Kelly in the JR B age division placed 8th in the AA with a score of 34.5 (personal best). She placed 8th on vault, 8.325, 8th on bars, 8.525, 6th on beam, 8.45, and 6th on floor, 9.2 (personal best).

Iella Key in the SR A age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 34.45. She placed 1st on vault, 9.3 (personal best), 5th on bars, 9.025 (personal best), 7th on beam, 7.6, and 8th on floor, 8.525.

“I am really pleased with their floor scores. They have worked really hard to clean up their floor routines and make them look better,” said Coach Becky Reagan.

Also in the last session on Sunday was the Xcel Platinum group.

“Ansley Key is our only Xcel Platinum at this time. She had worked hard to have a new tumbling pass on floor. She will be working on another new tumbling pass for our next meet in two weeks,” said Harvell said.

Ansley, in the SR age division, placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 33.725. She placed 2nd on vault, 8.8, 3rd on bars, 8.0, tied for 2nd on beam, 8.0, and 2nd on floor, 8.925.
