MOULTRIE – After dropping its first three games of the season, the Colquitt County eighth-grade baseball team has won two straight, including an 18-0 no-hit victory at Pine Grove on Tuesday.

The eighth-grade Packers will try to extend their winning streak to three games when they play host to Thomas County Central at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Packer Park.

Javian Daniels and Carson Taylor combined on Tuesday’s no-hitter. Neither gave up a walk.

Daniels went the first three innings, striking out eight.

Taylor went the final two innings and fanned four.

Colquitt scored at least two runs in each of the five innings and pounded out 13 hits.

Briar Littleton led the offensive assault, going 4-for-4 with a double, scoring three runs and driving in one.

Chase Enfinger had three hits, including a double, scored four times and also drove in a run.

Daniels, Jackson Dorminey, Owen Avery, Wesley Hall, Trenton Coney, Brey Sands and Chase Giddens added singles.

Hall drove in two runs. Enfinger, Kade Hopper, Bradley Bryan, Avery, Coney, Sands, Sy Jones and Tripp Bridges each drove in one run.

The shutout was the second in a row for the eighth-graders, who scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth in a 13-0 victory over Valdosta Middle School on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Packer Park.

Dorminey pitched five shutout innings against the Wildcats, giving up just three hits and allowing just one walk. He struck out nine batters.

Avery and Daniels each had a triple and Coney chipped in a double to lead the Packers seven-hit attack.

Coney, Dorminey, Enfinger and Regan Bozeman added singles.

Avery drove in two runs. Coney had the other RBI.

Also on Tuesday, Valdosta scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to deal the Colquitt County AA baseball team a 6-5 defeat in Valdosta.

The Packers had scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, but could not hold it.

Eli Johnson led Colquitt County with two hits. Carter Penuel, Davis Wingate and Jesus Vazquez had the others.

Johnson, Vazquez and James Horne had RBIs for the Packers.

Johnson started and pitched three scoreless innings for the Packers. He did not give up a hit and struck out five batters.

Hardin Reeves pitched 1.1 innings and did not give up a run while striking out two.

The AA Packers, now 0-2, will play next on Monday, Feb. 19, when Thomas County Central visits Packer Park. First pitch will be at 4:30 p.m.
