When the Lady Packers played their game, it took them the entire first quarter to bypass Worth County on the scoreboard.

Amareyia Knighton tied the score at 11 with two successful free throws when the clock showed 56 seconds.

Knighton was also the athlete to give the Lady Packers their advantage when she sank a 3-point basket with only 10 seconds remaining in the quarter.

The first quarter ended 14-11, and the Lady Packers maintained their lead the remainder of the match.

Repeatedly, the Lady Packers utilized several quick passes down the court to bypass the Lady Rams and have an undefended shot on the basket.

In one particularly rapid play during the second quarter, Ameris Johnson caught a defensive rebound, immediately sending the ball to Amira Walters-Smith, who flung it to D’Zeriyah Polite knowing she would continue the motion to Knighton waiting just underneath the basket.

There were also multiple times this strategy was used after the ball was stolen.

Four Lady Packers had steals during the game: Jamaya Moore, Walters-Smith, Knighton and Johnson.

“We continue to remain in the zone,” aid head coach Rondesha Williams. “We just keep looking ahead.”

Twice the Lady Packers also received bonuses, which amounted to eight of their points.

The highest scoring Lady Packer was Knighton with 20. With 16 points, Walters-Smith was the second highest scorer.

Other Lady Packers who scored during the game were: Nyleigha Knighton, Nacardia Robinson, Caylnn Singletary, Moore and Polite.

Moore, Amareyia Knighton, Singletary and Walters-Smith all had 3-point baskets.

“This was a good win,” said Rondesha Williams. “Especially with it being senior night.”

When the Packers faced Worth County their game began much the same way as the Lady Packers.

Ten seconds were left in the first quarter when Worth County fumbled a pass sending the ball out of bounds parallel to the Packers basket.

The score was tied at 13.

In a quick play, the Packers got the ball to Cason Harden, who sank a long shot, making the score 16-13 right as the buzzer rang.

Harden had a total of four 3-point baskets during the first quarter, and six total. He was the only Packer to successfully score this type of shot.

Going into second quarter it was a back and forth battle for the lead.

A layup from Harden tied the score at 22 with 4:27 remaining, and Jakari Byrd’s layup less than 30 seconds later gave the Packers the advantage they would maintain the remainder of the match.

As the game progressed, tension mounted and both teams received multiple technical fouls.

“Composure was lost a couple of times,” said head coach Andy Harden. “I am disappointed about that and it will be discussed. We have to learn how to remain calm when we are under pressure.”

Despite a high fouling game, the Packers were able to complete several outstanding plays.

Zy Alridge, in the third quarter, had a phenomenal 360 swivel around multiple defenders and snaked the ball through the hoop.

Another Packer who completed a swivel 360 was Quan Kinsey, who received a hard pass from Zay Williams passing through the hands of several defenders.

The highest scoring Packer was Harden with 30 points, followed closely by Byrd’s 17 points.

Also scoring were: Kinsey, Alridge and Markese Wilson.

”We played really well,” said Coach Harden. “All of us coaches came up with a good game plan, and the boys executed it really well. I am very proud of them.”

Following that, they are traveling to Valdosta Friday evening for their next region game.
