MGs Level 4 team earns second-place banner

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie MG’s traveled to St. Augustine, Florida, recently to compete in the Conquistador Classic.

The meet was held at the World Golf Renaissance Resort and was hosted by Destination Meets.

The Xcel Silver team competed in the second session on Friday. They had a team score of 110.60 with an average score of 9.2 per event.

Naomi De Le Cruz in age group 7 led the team with an All-Around score of 36.475. She placed 1st on vault, 9.5.

In age group 2, Katie Poblete Morris placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 36.275. She placed 2nd on vault, 9.075, 6th on beam, 8.8, and tied for 5th on floor, 9.3.

Whitley Bozeman, in age group 2, placed 4th in the AA with a score of 36.225. She placed 1st on beam, 9.5 (personal best) and 2nd on floor, 9.4 (personal best).

In age group 2 Jaceleigh Smithwick placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.2. She placed 3rd on vault, 8.95, 5th on beam, 8.825, and 1st on floor, 9.475 (personal best).

In age group 1, Olivia Eubanks placed 1st in the AA with a score of 36.175. She placed 1st on vault, 8.85, 4th on bars, 9.15, 5th on beam, 8.85, and 1st on floor, 9.325 (personal best).

In age group 1 Katie Goble placed 5th in the AA with a score of 35.225. She placed 3rd on vault, 8.725 and 3rd on beam, 9.0.

In age group 1 Lexi Miller placed 9th in the AA with a score of 33.5. She placed 5th on floor with a score of 9.1.

In age group 3 Alyssa Howell placed 4th in the AA with a score of 35.95. She placed 4th on vault, 8.85, 4th on beam, 8.875 and 6th on floor, 9.125 (personal best).

Brantlee Majors in age group 3 placed 10th in the AA with a score of 34.775. She tied for 5th place on vault, 8.8 and had a personal best on floor with a score of 8.85.

In age group 4 Allegra Porteus placed 7th in the AA with a score of 35.125. She had a personal best score on floor with an 8.9. Allegra is just coming back from a foot injury.

“We are very proud of our girls. They did a great job and we will continue to work hard and improve” said Coach Haley and Coach Katheryn.

The Xcel Gold team competed in the third session on Friday. They had a team score of 103.275, which is an average of 8.6 per event.

Raley Merritt in age group 8 led the team with an AA score of 35.25 for a 4th place win. She placed 4th on vault, 8.95 and 4th on bars, 9.4 (personal best).

Ava Solanki in age group 1 placed 10th in the AA with a score of 33.875. She placed 4th on bars with a score of 9.15.

Maddy Booth, also in age group 1 placed 11th in the AA with a score of 32.775. She looked really good on floor and scored an 8.85. In age group 3 Kinsley Kelley placed 10th in the AA with a score of 31.925. She had a nice floor routine that scored her an 8.775.

Julianne Carson, also in age group 3 placed 11th in the AA with a score of 31.725. She made some changes to her floor routine that gave her a score of 8.65.

In age group 6, Iella Key placed 10th in the AA with a score of 33.875. She performed her floor routine very nicely which earned her an 8.825 and a personal best.

“I am proud of the girls for doing their best at this meet. We have some work to do on beam before our next competition,” said coach Becky Reagan.

Khloe Booth who was also supposed to compete hurt her foot and is in a boot for a few weeks.

The level 6 team competed in the fourth session on Friday. They had a team score of 101.6 giving them an average of 8.5.

“I would like to see bars improve and we will be working hard on that before our next meet in two weeks. My goal for them is also to come up one to two tenths in the next meet per event,” said coach Dawn Harvell.

In age group 2 Eliza Jane Reagan placed 11th in the AA with a score of 34.45. She also placed 3rd on vault with a score of 8.825.

In age group 6 Kayla Scroggins placed 11th in the AA with a score of 33.675. She also had a personal best score on beam with an 8.9. It was a very nice routine.

In age group 4 Nataleigh Bryant placed 12th in the AA with a score of 33.475. She placed 6th on vault with a score of 9.0.

The Xcel Bronze team competed in the fifth session on Saturday. They had a team score of 109.475 giving them an average of 9.1 per event.

They were led by Sofia Molina, age group 4, who placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 37.5. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.25, 2nd on bars, 9.75 (personal best), 5th on beam, 9.1 and 4th on floor, 9.4.

Evelyn Strayer, age group 4, placed 11th in the AA with a score of 33.95. She had a personal best on vault with a score of 8.7.

Maggie Bozeman, age group 6, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 36.725. She tied for 6th on vault, 9.0, tied for 4th on beam, 9.2 and 6th on floor, 9.4. Josie Bozeman, age group 5, placed 7th in the AA with a score of 35.25. She placed 6th on bars with a score of 9.1.

Leila Garner, age group 1, placed 10th in the AA with a score of 32.775. She had a very nice bar routine earning her a score of 8.65.

First-time coach Alex Garner said, “It was my first time coaching at a large meet, I was very proud of the girls’ composure. They stayed calm and confident.”

Ansley Key in the Xcel Platinum group competed in session nine on Sunday morning. She placed 13th in the AA with a score of 30.175. She also had a very nice vault which earned her a score of 8.25.

The Level 4 team competed in session 10 on Sunday.

They had a team score of 103.975 earning them a 2nd place banner. They had an average score of 8.7 per event.

They were led by Lylah Anderson, age group 2, who placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 34.75. She placed 3rd on bars, 8.8 (personal best) and 2nd on beam, 9.0.

Joselyn Juarez, age group 2, placed 4th in the AA with a score of 34.55. She placed 2nd on vault, 8.75, 1st on beam, 9.1 and 6th on floor, 8.7.

Kenya Poblete Morris, age group 1, placed 4th in the AA with a score of 34.675. She placed 4th on vault, 8.725, 5th on bars, 8.3, 4th on beam, 8.725, and 6th on floor, 8.925.

“These girls have worked extremely hard to polish all of their routines and you could see that this weekend. I’m expecting them to come up in scores at our next meet in two weeks,” said Harvell.

The MGs next competition will be the first weekend in February in Thomasville.
