Two Colquitt County physicians, Woodwin “Woody” M. Weeks, DO and Michael A. Thayer, MD were honored with prestigious awards during the annual Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) House of Delegates meeting. … Two South Georgia pharmacies are among the first three in Georgia to be licensed to sell low-THC cannabis oil to eligible patients. Independent pharmacies in Warner Robins, Tifton, and Omega are the ones licensed. … Two Moultrie residents were taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center after being wounded by bullets during one of several weekend shootings. … The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office won the first place prize of $5,000 in the department competition during the 4th Annual Moultrie First Responder Association Shooting Competition.
Packers defeat Valdosta 44-28 in front of a large Senior Night crowd to claim their second-straight Region 1-7A championship. … The Lady Packer competitive cheerleading squad wrapped up its regular season with a first place finish in the Worth County Last Chance Cheer Competition. … The Colquitt County girls finish fourth in the Region 1-7A cross country meet at Freedom Park and have qualified for the state meet. … The Colquitt County Lady Packer varsity flag football team continues their shutout streak during their first officiated home match at Mack Tharpe Stadium when they beat Camden County 45-0. … The Georgia High School Football Daily names the Packers front line as its Offensive Line of the Week and representatives from the publication and sponsors Alfa Insurance and the U.S. Army presents the team with a plaque. … The Colquitt County softball team falls 7-6 to Parkview and is eliminated from the Super Regional at East Coweta.

First Presbyterian Church had given the charity the deed to the First Street Southeast lot where its building sits and the charity received a grant to help build a soundproof room for interviews. … Colquitt Regional receives its 17th “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
