A long-time, family-run funeral home, Cobb Funeral Chapel and Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens, was sold to Park Lawn Corporation, a Canadian-based business. Ellen Cobb-Robinson and Jamie Robinson, who have been managing the funeral home since the passing of founder Bobby Cobb, will continue to manage the business. … Amy Johnson, Downtown Economic Development and Public Relations director, received the Georgia Municipal Association’s Starr Award. The award is given to an individual who has made a significant contribution toward creating a unique and vibrant environment in the downtown area of a city in Georgia. … The Colquitt County Grand Jury issued true bill indictments to a father and son who were involved in a felony murder case in early 2022. … The Colquitt County Board of Commissioners held a meeting with representatives of local cities and authorities to plan for continuation of SPLOST ahead of a November vote. … Connie Fritz steps down from the Arts Center of Moultrie executive director position. … A marker is commissioned by Bill McLean and the John Benning Chapter NSDAR along with the City of Moultrie and the Colquitt County Commission to honor 62 pilots, who died at Spence in World War II.

The winners included Bailee Fountain, Odessa Dixon and Candace Moses. … The Colquitt County High School varsity competitive cheer squad, along with the varsity and JV spirit squads, hosted their annual mini cheer camp fundraiser. … Moultrie-Colquitt County’s Parks and Recreation Authority’s Shaw Gym on Fifth Avenue Northwest was the location for the Ball 4 It All two-day basketball tournament.
