Lady Packers basketball team remains undefeated

MOULTRIE — Continuing their undefeated record, the Lady Packer basketball team won against the Bainbridge Lady Cats 53-35 Tuesday night at Colquitt County High School.
They are now 5-0 in non-region play.
“We have a lot of good shooters,” said head coach Rondesha Williams. “We have a lot of weapons up our sleeve, but we also have a lot to continue working on.”
Five different Lady Packers were successful in making 3-point shots, with one being the first basket of the game and another being the last.
Jamya Moore had the most with three followed by Amareyia Knighton with two and one each from Caylnn Singletary, D’Zeriyah Polite and Amira Walters-Smith.
In addition to having the most 3-point shots, Moore also scored the most points with 13.
Walters-Smith and Singletary followed behind with nine each.
Also scoring for the Lady Packers were Nyleigha Knighton and Nacardia Robinson.
Two of Robinson’s points came from free throws during a Lady Packers bonus during the fourth quarter.
The Packers also received a bonus in three of the four quarters; however, though they fought hard, came up short, losing 59-43.
“We played well defensively,” said head coach Andy Harden. “(Jakari) Byrd especially was playing really well on defense.”
Byrd had a plethora of rebounds on both ends of the court, and also had several successful picks.
Additionally, Byrd scored the most points for the Packers, contributing 16 points during the match.
Also scoring for the Packers were: Cason Harden, Jae Lamar, Calvin Washington, Zay Williams, Na’Ryan Sumlin and Zy Aldridge.
Two of the baskets were 3-point shots, one from Washington and the other from Williams.
The Packers and Lady Packers will next travel to Worth County Thursday to compete in their next non-region games.
