MOULTRIE — The Moultrie Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Authority (MCCPRA) has several programs coming up in January for both old and young alike.

Cooking with Connie will take place each Thursday, from 4-6 p.m., at the Ryce Community Center for 10- to 15-year-olds. The cost is $5 per student per session or $20 for all four classes. The classes will be Rollups, Quesadillas and Bread Pizzas on the 4th, Crescent Chicken Pockets and Crispy Chicken Tenders on the 11th, Casseroles — Hamburger Mac and Cheese and Chicken Alfredo on the 18th, Desserts in a Jar — Peaches and Cream, Strawberry Short Cake and Pumpkin Pie on the 25th.

On Jan 5, from 1 to 5 p.m., Senior Adult Cooking For One will be held with participants collaborating on five freezer to microwave/oven dishes to take home. The cost is $25 per person and the registration deadline is Dec. 29.

New to the MCCPRA, for ages 50 and up, is Cardio Drumming, which is a fitness activity that combines drumming with light cardiovascular exercise. Participants use drumsticks and stabilized exercise balls, creating rhythmic beats while performing various low impact aerobics movements either sitting or standing. The cost is $5 per person per session and there’s a limit of 11 people in each class so registration is a must. The sessions will be held on Friday the 12th, from 11:30 a.m. to noon, at the Ryce Community Center; on Friday the 19th from 5:30 to 6 p.m., at the Tommy Meredith Gym; and on Tuesday the 30th, from 2 to 2:30 p.m., at the Ryce Community Center.

On Tuesday the 16th, from 10 a.m. to noon, arts, crafts, games and puzzles will be held for ages 50 and up, at the Ryce Community Center. It will be a morning of fellowship including doughnuts and coffee, games and puzzles, making crafts and art projects. This is a free event, but sign-up with the MCCPRA office.
