MG’s break team record, have 49 personal bests in PCB Cup

MOULTRIE — he last weekend in October, the MG’s competed in the PCB Cup Edgewater in Panama City Beach, Fla.
The meet was held at the Edgewater Beach Resort by the Edgewater Gymnastics team.

“It was a very exciting weekend for the MG’s,” said Coach Dawn Harvell. “We broke one team record and had 49 personal best scores.
“The girls worked very hard the last few weeks to improve their scores from the last meet. I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements they make in the next couple of weeks before we compete in Valdosta.”
The MG’s began the weekend with the Xcel Bronze level gymnasts competing in the first session of the weekend. It was the third meet for these gymnasts.
Libby Parish, in age division E placed 2nd in the All Around with a 37.55(personal best). She placed 2nd on vault, 9.525 (MG Record and personal best), 3rd on bars, 9.35 (personal best), 2nd on beam, 9.325 and 4th on floor, 9.35 (personal best).
Maggie Bozeman, also in the E age division scored a 37.125 (personal best) for a 3rd place win. She placed 6th on vault, 9.25, 1st on bars, 9.45 (personal best), 3rd on beam, 9.125, and 5th on floor, 9.3.
Also in the E age division was Josie Bozeman who placed 6th in the AA with a score of 36.375. She placed 4th on vault, 9.325 (personal best), 4th on bars, 9.25, and she had a personal best score on floor with a 9.225.

Sofia Molina in the D age division placed 1st in the AA with a score of 37.425. She also placed 1st on vault, 9.125, 1st on bars, 9.6, 1st on beam, 9.275, and 1st on floor, 9.425 (personal best).
Leila Garner in the A age division placed 3rd in the AA with a score of 34.925. She also placed 1st on bars, 9.55 (personal best) and 1st on floor, 9.35 (personal best).
The team placed 1st with a score of 112.55.
“The girls were so excited about this being a bigger meet,” said Coach Jeremy Merritt. “They worked hard to make sure that they would receive awards and it showed. They had an average score of 9.4 per event. These girls are always up for a challenge and rise to meet it.”
The Xcel Gold Team was in the fifth and last session of the day and every girl had a personal best on the floor.
“I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks improving their skills and going to Titletown Classic Meet in Valdosta,” said Coach Becky Reagan.
In the E age division, Raley Merritt placed 6th in the AA with a score of 34.6. She also placed 3rd on vault, 8.975 (personal best), 5th on bars, 8.6 and had a personal best on floor with a 9.15.
In the C age division Khloe Booth placed 6th in the AA with a score of 34.15 (personal best). She also placed 6th on vault, 8.4 (personal best), 6th on bars, 8.175 (personal best), 6th on beam, 8.725 (personal best), and had a personal best on floor with an 8.85.
Kinsley Kelley also in the C age division placed 8th in the AA with a score of 32.575. She also placed 6th on floor with a 9.15 giving her a personal best.
Julianne Carson in the C age division placed 9th in the AA with a score of 31.775. She also had a personal best on floor with a score of 8.925.
Iella Key in the D age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 33.875. She also had a personal best on bars with an 8.6 and on floor with an 8.75.
Adysen Hall in the B age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 33.2. She also had a personal best on floor with a score of 9.125.
Ava Solanki in the A age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 32.7. She placed 4th on floor with a score of 9.075 giving her a personal best.
Maddy Booth, also in the A age division placed 9th in the AA with a score of 30.25. She also had a personal best on floor with a score of 8.925.
“The Level 6 Team was in session 6 of the weekend and they had two personal bests,” said Coach Dawn Harvell. “They are working really hard on perfecting their skills. EJ and Kayla have expressed that their goal is to make regionals this year. Leah Shaw is still out with a knee injury and will hopefully be back soon. Nataleigh Bryant has also come back to the team and will start competing in January. I am looking forward to seeing where we will stand against other teams.”
Eliza Jane Reagan in the A age division placed 2nd in the AA with a 34.8. She placed 1st on bars, 8.75, and 1st on beam, 8.75 (personal best).
Kayla Scroggins in the B age division placed 1st in the AA with a score of 33.025. She placed 1st on vault, 8.65, 1st on bars, 7.95, 1st on beam, 7.325, and 1st on floor, 9.1 (personal best).
The Level 4 team competed in session 7.
“We have to work on improving our form and losing some of their anxiety about performing at a big meet,” said Harvell. “We are going to work on improving their bars and vault over the next two weeks and hopefully be ready for the Titletown Classic.”
Joselyn Juarez in the C age division placed 6th in the AA with a score of 33.425. She also placed 4th on beam with a score of 8.925. Also in the C age division was Lylah Anderson who placed 7th in the AA with a score of 32.475. She also had a personal best on bars with a score of 8.6.
Kenya Poblete Morris in the B age division placed 4th in the AA with a score of 33.25. She also placed 2nd on vault with an 8.725 and had a personal best on bars with a 7.7.
The Xcel Silver team was in the last and final session of the weekend.
“I saw great team work, I was happy for the team to win 3rd place with a score of 111.15,” said Harvell. “They had an average score of 9.3 per event. They have made a lot of improvements on vault, bars, and floor.”
In the E age division Naomi De La Cruz placed 7th in the AA with a score of 37.025. She also placed 2nd on vault with a score of 9.5 for a personal best and also had a personal best on floor with a 9.25.
Katie Morris in the B age division placed 4th in the AA with a score of 36.75 for a personal best. She also placed 5th on vault, 9.025, 5th on bars, 9.2 (personal best), 3rd on beam, 9.175, and 1st on floor, 9.35 (personal best).
Also in the B age division was Olivia Eubanks who placed 5th in the AA with a score of 36.225 (personal best). She also placed 4th on vault, 9.05, 4th on bars, 9.275 (personal best), and tied for 3rd on floor, 9.025 (personal best).
Whitley Bozeman in the B age division placed 8th in the AA with a score of 35.2. She also tied for 4th on beam with a score of 9.1.
Jaceleigh Smithwick was in the C age division placing 2nd in the AA with 36.725 for a personal best. She also placed 2nd on vault, 9.425 (personal best), tied for 2nd on beam, 9.1, and 3rd on floor, 9.375 (personal best).
Brantlee Majors in the C age division placed 5th in the AA with a score of 35.725. She placed 3rd on vault, 9.2 (personal best), a personal best on bars, 8.725, tied for 2nd on beam, 9.1 (personal best), and a personal best on floor, 8.7.
Lexi Miller in the A age division placed 7th in the AA with a score of 34.85. She also placed 3rd on vault with a score of 9.05 for a personal best and 2nd on floor with a 9.0 also a personal best.
Katie Goble, also in the A age division placed 8th in the AA with a score of 34.45. She had a personal best on bars, 8.875 and floor, 8.6.
Allegra Porteus placed 10th in the AA with a score of 34.5. She also had a personal best on floor with an 8.825.
Moultrie YMCA will hold the next meet on January 6, 2024.
