- Colquitt County senior Ny Carr makes one of his two touchdown catches against Valdosta. Carr was one of the Packer football team’s 26 senior players honored before Friday’s victory over the Wildcats that clinched the Region 1-7A championship. Neko Fann, who threw the two scoring passes to Carr, also is a senior.
MOULTRIE — Most of the Colquitt County football team’s Class of 2024 players who were honored on Senior Night before Friday’s 44-28 Region 1-7A-clinching victory over Valdosta are three-year veteran Packers.
So far, those who have played on the last three Colquitt County teams have accomplished much, both individually and as team members.
And as they know, there could be as many as six more games yet to play.
From the beginning of the 2021 season, Colquitt County has produced a 30-4 record, claimed a pair of region championships and won three state playoff games while competing in Georgia’s highest classification.
They have lost just one region game in that span and that was to Lowndes in 2021.
This group has twice avenged that loss, most recently by rolling up a school-record 663 yards in a 52-34 win two weeks ago.
They have defeated Valdosta three times and also got a win over a state champion.
The Packers took down Cedar Grove 28-19 in 2021, the season in which the Saints went on to win the Class AAA state title.
Quarterback Neko Fann and receiver Ny Carr have set new career records and offensive tackle Ja’Quavian “Turk” Daniels has started every game since he was a freshman.
But this year’s seniors have one goal remaining: to win a state championship on December 13.
