“I’m really proud of the girls,” said head coach Jess Patel. “We always love the competition against Lee, and for the seniors this might be the last time playing. It was great to end on a win.”

The set scores were 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.

Earlier in the week, the varsity squad had travel games, competing against Ware County and Brantley County.

The Lady Packers won both matches 2-0.

The Ware County set scores were 25-20, 25-9 while the set scores against Brantley were 25-12, 25-16.

During the game against Lee County, the Lady Packers were on point both with offense and defense.

Six different athletes had successful blocks: Jaina Turner, Reese Webb, Nyasia Harper, Kate Summerlin, Jessie Eunice and Melanie Harp.

Also on defense, Claire Slocumb, Summerlin, Natalie Bryant and Clara Newton all threw their bodies on the gym floor to successfully keep the ball in play.

Offensively, the Lady Packers had a successful three-hit play 15 times to gain an instant point, and twice they utilized the first hit over successfully.

Eunice was the only Lady Packers to serve an ace during the first set, and three more athletes served aces during the remaining two: Wynn Kinsey, Olivia Davis and Slocumb.

With the longest serving streak of the match, to start out the third set, was Kinsey with 10 serves.

“We had less errors during this game than in our previous ones,” said Patel. “The girls were able to level out mentally knowing this match could go either way.”

The Lady Packers will travel to Richmond Hill Saturday for their region tournament. They are entering the tournament as the third seed.
